by Zsolt Kalló (violin); Andrea Bertalan (flute);
Capella Savaria (on period instruments)
Michael Haydn’s name appears less and less frequently on concert programmes, and not because the quality of his music is questioned. He enjoyed widespread popularity at his time.
His modest repertoire of secular music included conventional compositions written for keyboard or violin and orchestra, but he also authored concertos for the cello, horn, trumpet and flute.
Capella Savaria has earned its fame as the first periodinstrument chamber orchestra of Hungary.
